Can I use the Supergun in my country as we are not 240 V ?
The Supergun as we sell it is set to 240 V, we can switch inside to 120 V if needed. If you need it at another rating you would need to use some sort of step up or down converter. Can I run the Supergun with my SVHS or AV monitor ?No as the Supergun is RGB scart out only, the machine does not push out a SVHS signal or AV signal so you can only use the Supergun on a T.V or Monitor that excepts RGB in. You might be able to convert the signal from RGB to another signal like Component or the above if some sort of decoder box was used. *Also as the machine is RGB, it will run on 50 & 60 HZ TV Monitors, NTSC or Pal.
Does the Supergun work on new Plazma & LCD Tv's
Yes, but we have had a few customers who have had some incompatibility problems with some makes. Standard Tube TV's as long as they have an RGB scart socket we can say 99% of them TV's are compatible. But with the new Plazma & LCD's we at present cant give be as certain. We advise to use a tube TV or monitor. Can I use Neo Geo MVS carts on the Supergun ? You can but you need to buy a Neo Geo one slot (or 2,3,4 slot etc.) these are sometimes also called a mother board, this simply plugs into the Supergun like an arcade Pcb then you can plug in the MVS carts into the Neo Geo one slot. The Neo Geo Hyper 64 motherboard will also work with the Supergun. * Please note that the Hyper 64 is stereo, the Superguns output Mono, so you would get no sound unless you change settings in the Hyper motherboard to Mono.
Can I use Sammy's Atomiswave systen on the Supergun ?
Yes you can as the Atomiswave is standard Jamma. As most games are 3 to 4 button use they work perfectly. Some games like Guilty Gear X & The King Of Fighters Neo Wave do use 5 buttons though, this is now no longer a problem as our Superguns are modded so ALL 5 buttons work on Atomiswave games with the joypad supplied. * Also any customers who have Superguns from us before mid October 2004, we can now do a small conversion for you to give you the full 5 button use.
Can I have the sound coming out from my Hi Fi speakers ?
Yes this is very easy, you can either come straight off the Pcb itself, as some Pcbs have a plug or pin on them where you can plug a lead into and take the sound out from. But the easiest way is to come out from the back of the Superguns' head phone socket where you can plug a lead in, then go into the back of your amp. Or if the TV or monitor you are using for the Supergun has audio out sockets for the Rgb input, you can come out from their, again going into your amp. Please note speakers cannot be plugged directly into the headphone socket at the back of the Supergun.
Can you convert my Joystick or Joypad for the Supergun ?
This depends on what you have ? For example PS2 original joypads cannot be converted for use on the Supergun, yet most Sega Megadrive pads can. If you have a pad or a stick you want converting, e-mail us down a picture and we might be able to tell you if this can be used with the Supergun.
Can i use 4 5 or 6 buttons on the Supergun ?
Yes the Supergun is wired up for 6 buttons and you get a 6 button controller with the machine but you need a loom with the Pcb you are using to get all the 6 buttons to work. For example Street Fighter 2 is a six button game and you should get a loom with the Street Fighter that plugs onto the Street Fighter PCB, then the other end of that loom has wires that then connect to the loom that we supply with our Superguns. This loom of ours plugs into the back of our Supergun machine, then the other end of that loom as said above connects to the Street Fighter loom, thus giving you the 6 button use.
What is Jamma ?
Jamma is the standard a bit like VHS or Betamax video! Basically if a Pcb is Jamma it will work on the
Supergun. Jamma Pcb's are worldwide compatible, it does not
matter if you use a UK, USA or Japanese Jamma Pcb. Most Pcbs from about 1985 onwards are Jamma. If a Pcb is not Jamma it
might be able to be wired up to Jamma though. Take the Pcb 'Phoenix' for
example which was pre 1985 and was non Jamma, if someone has made up a Jamma
loom for this this would now work on the Supergun. So for example if you happen to buy a Pcb
from an auction site and it's an old game like the above and you want it for use on the Supergun make sure
its 'Jamma compatible' or comes with a 'Jamma loom'. All our Pcbs we sell are
Jamma ready. Also systems like Atomiswave,
Naomi Etc. work on the Supergun but some systems might need 'Hi Res' monitors (sse
above for more info on this). Do driving games like Out Run or the various gun games work with the Supergun ? In most cases no. Most driving games like Out Run or Power Drift for example do not have Jamma Pcb's in them and the Supergun only runs Jamma Pcb's. You could in theory wire up a non Jamma Pcb to Jamma and wire a wheel onto the Supergun but this would be (A) very difficult and (B) once a wheel etc. would be wired in this would then be wired in for good, so you then could not use the Supergun for standard use. Will new arcade games work on the Supergun ? Yes, as long as they are Jamma. What are copy or 1000 in 1 Pcb's ?Copy Pcb's are what they say 'Copies'. They are cheaply made in countries like Hong Kong and we do not recommend them. If you stick to an original Pcb the Supergun will run this fine with no problems. Copies tend to (A) need a bit more voltage then original Pcbs so they put extra strain on the Supergun which can blow the power supply, (B) as they can need more voltage then the original Pcb's the set voltage would then need to be turned up inside the Supergun. Our Superguns are set correctly to run original Pcbs so you should never have to open up the machine to adjust the voltage. (C) Copies tend to sometimes have flicker or corruption break up that you would not find on the original Pcb. And (D) in some cases they don't sync into the TV or monitor you might be using so the picture rolls, basically they are not reliable. Also the 1000 in 1 or similar pirate Pcb's although they may seem tempting, we recommend to avoid these for all the above same reasons, we have had many customers purchase these only to return to the shippers for refunds, we don't guarantee these to work with our Supergun. How do I tell the difference from an original Pcb to a copy ? Original Pcb's tend to have the name of the company e.g. Capcom or Konami stamped somewhere on the Pcb in white, copies don't. Also copies tend to have no gap (but not always) on the jamma side pins where you plug the Pcb into the Supergun, originals always have a gap. If you're not sure and you think you have a copy you can always e-mail us a picture and we can try to help you. After a while you do get used to the same Pcb copies turning up, and likewise some Pcb's are never copied. Street Fighter II for example is one of the most copied Pcb's ever, yet a game like Konami's Vulcan Venture has never turned up in a copy form. Most decent suppliers worldwide do not sell copies but sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference. Click here for pictures of original & copy Pcb's.
If I plug in a Pcb upside down will it damage the Pcb ?
In most cases no, but yes it could damage a Pcb if you plug it in upside down. Our Superguns have TOP written on the Jamma loom so you should always make sure the Pcb is the correct way up. If you are not sure what's the top or bottom of a Pcb (for example the Pcb 'Robocop' if it does not have Pcb legs on it is quite similar both ways up!) You can check the numbers on the loom and the Pcb. If you look closely the loom has numbers inside it and so do all Jamma Pcbs where you plug them in, so as long as the numbers match up to each other you know it's the correct way up.
It's common sense really, we recommend keeping them in bubble wrap and storing in a dry non damp environment. Anti static bags are recommended also. If you're keeping them in storage boxes we don't recommend you storing more then 6 or 7 on top of each other as the chips can get pushed out and other components can get damaged with too much weight on top of them. Can a Pcb get repaired if it goes dead or develops a fault? An original Pcb in theory if looked after should not develop a fault but like anything electrical and of course anything very old it is possible (but unlikely). If in the unusual case for some reason the Pcb does go dead or develops a fault it might be able to be repaired (we do not do repairs here though) but in a lot of cases unless the pcb is worth a lot of money it is usually cheaper to hunt around for a replacement. Saying that though we recently had an original Space Invaders Pcb that developed a fault for no apparent reason and it only cost us £15.00 for a replacement chip to get it up and running 100% again, so it is possible even on the oldest of Pcb's to sometimes get them repaired, and it can if you're lucky be cheap !
